How Much Does a DJ Cost in London? The Real Answer for 2026
How Much Does a DJ Cost in London? The Real Answer for 2026
Every London DJ quote is different because every London event is different. A two-hour deep house set at a Dalston rooftop is not the same gig as a five-hour wedding reception at Claridge's. The DJ knows this. The price reflects it.
Here is what you can realistically expect to pay in 2026.
London DJ pricing by level
| Level | Price range | What you get | |-------|-----------|-------------| | Emerging | £250 – £450 | Talented newer DJs building their reputation. Often excellent value | | Established | £450 – £850 | Regular bookings, solid experience, reliable | | Professional | £850 – £1,500 | Full-time DJs with notable venue and brand credits | | Premium | £1,500 – £3,000+ | Known names, festival experience, luxury event specialists |
Most private events in London — birthdays, dinners, house parties — fall in the £400 to £800 range.
What pushes the price up
Saturday night in summer. Peak demand. If your event is a Saturday in July, expect every good DJ to be either booked or charging a premium. Move to Friday or Sunday and you will often save 20 to 30 percent.
Equipment. A DJ who brings a full PA system with speakers, subwoofer, and lighting is offering a complete production package. A DJ who brings just a controller will cost less but you will need to source sound separately — which can add £200 to £500.
Location. Central London venues are standard. A venue in Surrey, Kent, or Essex may incur a travel fee of £30 to £100.
Duration. Most quotes are for 3 to 4 hours. Every additional hour typically adds £50 to £150.
Event type. Weddings command higher rates than house parties. Corporate events higher still. The DJ is pricing not just their time but their preparation, wardrobe, and the stakes involved.
What pushes the price down
Weekday events. Monday to Thursday gigs are quiet periods for most DJs. You will find better rates and more availability.
Emerging DJs. A DJ with two years of experience and a brilliant ear can deliver a set just as memorable as someone with twenty years. The difference is brand recognition, not necessarily talent. Listen to their mixes on ORDO before deciding.
Booking direct. Agencies add 30 to 50 percent on top of the DJ's rate. Platforms like ORDO connect you directly — the price you see is the price the DJ actually receives.
Off-season. January through March is the quietest period. DJs are more flexible on rates.
What should be included
A standard London DJ booking should include:
- Pre-event communication about music preferences and timeline
- Music preparation tailored to your brief
- The DJ's own controller or decks and mixer
- Setup and pack-down time
- Travel within Greater London
Extras that may cost more: PA speakers, lighting, extended hours, early setup for soundcheck.
The agency tax
If you go through a traditional DJ hire agency in London, expect to pay 30 to 50 percent more than the DJ's direct rate. The agency pockets the difference. The DJ gets less. You pay more.
On ORDO, DJs set their own rates and you book them directly. No middleman margin.
